USGI rucksack rifle carrying strap.

. Straps are a funky retro way to carry your rifle and pack at the same time, keeping your hands free. These were originally issued during Vietnam for use with the lightweight nylon rucksack. They can also be used with the ALICE pack (both shown in pics). The hook attaches to the lowest webbing point on the ruck, and the strap end hooks to the front sling swivel on the rifle. Rifle butt sits in the pocket under the hook (carries as shown in last pic). These are all 1977 contract, unissued condition.
