    Description

PRE CIVIL WAR MARYLAND OFFICER'S STATE BUCKLE & OFFICERS STATE BUTTON SET, FREDERICK MARYLAND, 1861/1865
This pre Civil War excavated Maryland buckle & state button are from the military encampment at the old Revolutionary War Hessian Barracks that was used during the Mexican & Civil Wars near the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick Maryland & dates back to 1861 to 1965.
It was found in 2009 during the construction of E. street Connector of E Street & Interstate I-270.
The buckle is 3 5/16” x 2 15/16” with the Maryland seal in an oval on the front.
It is in good excavated condition with a nice dark greenish patina & still has the hook on the back.
The button is coat size & has the Maryland seal on the front & still has the shank on the back.
It is in only fair condition but matches the patina on the buckle
Both pieces are in uncleaned, as found, good excavated condition & have very dark patinas.
As I do not have a good amount of knowledge on buckles & buttons I showed it to a retired Smithsonian historian, several well respected relic hunters that I know & several well respected dealers(who tried to buy them).
All their opinions are that they are authentic!
    NOTE-
The shipping & insurance cost is only an estimate!
When this set is bought I will send the actual shipping & insurance cost to the buyer.
They will not be shipped until the full shipping & insurance charges are paid for.
