Description
Offered are a unique handmade dormitory paddle and sports team varsity patch from St. John's Military School in Salinas, Kansas. Originating from the mid 60s. Purchased just recently at a local downsizing sale. The seller attended St. John's Military School himself and attested this paddle though not officially sanctioned by the school was one of several keep hidden and used by upper classmen on cadets. In a school known for allowing older students to discipline others including the use of corporal punishment it was a "known" reality at the school. Each dorm had it's own paddle and the seller was in the dorm which used this one. Also included is his varsity patch including it's original wrapper. The "B" either baseball or basketball I guess. The paddle is in fine shape exhibiting rustic handmade charm. The wood is extremely hard and the maker centered a wood knot at the epicenter of the blade making this guy mean. Little to no beveling so beware actual use. The holes may be supposed to be in the sign of the Christian cross as the school was Episcopalian. Length 18" width 3 3/4" and thickness 1/2".
